But ya, any PM's sent they should be made aware of via email, if they have notifications set for receipt of a PM.

But even if so, my newsletter blast can ignore such settings so anyone registered will at least get my message. But I can name them specifically in it for *** & giggles.

Still need to check some things but that will be easy enough to do via PM.

When the site is re-opened. It is now, but tech locked down... but when it's "back". I can send out a newsletter, anyone who has an email attached that they still use will be made aware / be able to come back if that's what they choose to do.

Jude 1:5-7, Part 1

Awakening From Dreams To A Living Nightmare, Part 1

According to Jude's letter, by his time heretics were now infiltrating the churches and their teachings were becoming an increasing threat to the common salvation of all. Irenaeus recorded a century later that these heretics were in fact the successors of Simon the Magician, sexual predators who were leading the spiritually unstable into sexual immorality and rebellion against the true God. Although professing to be believers in "Christ," they were actually preaching an entirely different Jesus, and following an entirely different faith than the one originally handed down by the apostles:

Jude, a slave of Jesus Christ and brother of James, to those called, having become beloved in God the Father, and kept in Jesus Christ. May mercy and peace and love be multiplied unto you.
Beloved, applying all diligence to write to you concerning our common salvation, I had need to write to you, exhorting you to lay stress upon that faith formerly delivered to the saints. For certain men crept in, those of old having been proscribed unto this condemnation: They are "ungodly ones," [who are now] translating the grace of our God into sexual licentiousness and disowning the only Master, and our Lord Jesus Christ. (Jude 1:1- 4)

The word "ungodly" here meant that they were openly irreverent towards God, and had disowned Him in order to engage in forms of sexuality He strictly forbade. But there would be a price to pay. Jude now went on to cite three examples from history of those who made similar mistakes and ended up paying for it with their lives: The Israelites in the wilderness, the angels who sinned with women in the time before the flood, and the men of Sodom and Gomorrah:

I will therefore put you in remembrance, [despite] you knowing all these things already, that Jesus having saved a people out of the land of Egypt in the second place destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not keep their own principality but abandoned their own habitation, He has kept in eternal chains under darkness until the judgment of the great day, even as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around about them, who in like manner having given themselves over to sexual immorality and going away after other flesh are set forth as an example, [now] undergoing the punishment of everlasting fire.
Nevertheless, these dreamers likewise also defile flesh, and repudiate Lordship… (Jude 1:5-8a)

That they were "repudiating lordship" here simply means they were refusing to have any lord over them, whether it be the pagan gods or the God of the true Christians and Jews. In context, however, it was the Old Testament God, "the only Master," whom they disdained the most.
The word repudiate means "to divorce or separate from; to refuse to have anything to do with, or disown," and therefore fits in perfectly with this context. Scripture suggests that even Simon himself was for a brief time a believer in the true faith, but disowned God to create a new form of "Christianity," one that encouraged sexual immorality and a disdain for the Living God. As a Samaritan, Simon would have been familiar with Old Testament stories of how God executed judgment against the wicked, yet he and his followers were nevertheless turning against the Lord to engage in the same immoral practices. Why? The answer reveals just how great a deceiver the Devil can be, and the extent to which he will go to rob even true believers of their salvation if and whenever possible.

Gnostic Doctrines: "Dreamt Up" Through Demonic Influence

When Jude referred to them as "dreamers," he meant in both the figurative and literal sense. According to the early church Fathers, Simon and his successors used dream-sending demons to bring to the minds of converts certain "revelations from God" during sleep. Such dreams and revelations were of a lewd nature, in keeping with the licentiousness of Gnostic theology in general.
Speaking specifically of the members of Simon's sect, Irenaeus had the following things to say:

Thus, then, the mystic priests belonging to this sect both lead licentious lives and practice magical arts, each one to the extent of his ability. They use exorcisms and incantations, love potions too, and charms, as well as those beings known as "Paredri" (familiars) and "Oniropompi" (dream-senders), and whatever curious arts can be had recourse to are eagerly pressed into their service. (Ante Nicene Fathers, V.1, P.348)

They practice also magical arts and incantations; philters (i.e. potions of sexual arousal) and love potions; and have recourse to familiar spirits, dream-sending demons, and other abominations… (Ante Nicene Fathers, V.1, P.350)

Indeed, much of Gnostic theology appears to have been "dreamt up" with the help of demonic spirits. That each of them should dream up some new doctrine every day eventually came to be encouraged by the later Gnostic sects:

[E]very one of them generates something new, day by day, according to his ability; for no one is deemed "perfect" who does not develop among them some mighty fictions. (Ante Nicene Fathers, V.1, P.343. See also P.347)

Simon himself created a whole host of fictitious doctrines, going so far as to even teach that he and Helena were loftier and more powerful than the Old Testament God Himself. As the highest of all gods, Simon had first created Helena. She, sensing the intentions of Simon, became inspired to create the Old Testament God and His angels. Yet because the God of the Jews and His angels resented the thought of even having been created to begin with, they imprisoned Helena in a body of flesh. Thereafter, she had passed from one female body to the next for centuries until she eventually ended up in the body of a prostitute. But Simon descended to earth in a seemingly human form to rescue her, and restore her to her rightful place as a goddess:

Having redeemed from slavery at Tyre, a city of Phoenicia, a certain woman named Helena, he was in the habit of carrying her about with him, declaring that this woman was the first conception of his mind, the mother of all, by whom, in the beginning, he conceived in his mind the thought of forming angels and archangels… For this purpose then, he had come that he might win her first, and free her from slavery, while he conferred salvation upon men by making himself known to them. (Ante-Nicene Fathers, V.1, P.348)

As unbelievable and audacious as these teachings sound, they were the basis of Simon's claim that those who trusted in him no longer needed to fear the God of the Jews. Having received grace from Simon, they could now disregard the Old Testament God completely. Part of the gnosis (i.e. the "knowledge" falsely so called) that Simon taught his disciples was that the scriptural promises concerning the coming of God's wrath were all lies, fabricated by the Old Testament God and His angels simply to bring mankind under subjugation. According to Simon, their lordship over the earth should be completely repudiated, for the true power to dissolve the world rested with Simon and him alone.
     According to Simon's theology:

The prophets uttered their predictions under the inspiration of those angels who formed the worlds, for which reason those who place their trust in him and Helena no longer regarded them, but, as being free, live as they please; for men are saved through his grace, and not on account of their own righteous actions. For such deeds are not righteous in the nature of things, but [only] … as those angels who made the world have thought fit to constitute them, seeking by means of such precepts to bring men into bondage. On this account, Simon pledged himself that the world should be dissolved, and that those who are his should be freed from the rule of those who made the world. (Ante-Nicene Fathers, V.1, P.348)

But here is where they were truly "dreaming" in the figurative sense if they thought they could somehow escape the wrath of God while living a licentious lifestyle. Having divorced themselves from reality, Simon's followers were setting themselves up for destruction by thinking they no longer had reason to fear the Living God. And Jude would now support this claim by citing three examples from history of groups who repudiated the God's Lordship to engage in sexual immorality and all suffered judgment from God as a result.

Balaam: The Primary Story Used To Warn Against Gnosticism

I will therefore put you in remembrance, [despite] you knowing all these things already, that Jesus having saved a people out of the land of Egypt, in the second place destroyed those who did not believe… Nevertheless, these dreamers likewise defile flesh also, and repudiate lordship… (Jude 1:5, 8a)

There were several times in Israel's travels through the wilderness when they suffered judgment from God. But the one Jude was referring to specifically here is identifiable by the context and by his use of the word "likewise." There was one occasion where the Israelites were likewise "defiled flesh," i.e. engaged in sexual immorality, and then began repudiating God's lordship as a result.
What incident was Jude referring to here specifically? He was citing the primary Old Testament story used to warn New Testament believers about the dangers of Simon's heresy: The story of Balaam the prophet, who once gave advice to a pagan king that eventually led to thousands of men in Israel's army being seduced into engaging in sexual immorality with the daughters of the Moab, and then turning away to begin sacrificing to their god, Baal-Peor.
The story is recorded in Numbers, Chapter 25:

When Israel dwelt in Shittim, the men began to commit fornication with the daughters of Moab. And these women invited the men to the sacrifices of their gods; and then the men ate, and bowed down to their gods. So Israel joined themselves to Baal-Peor. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel. And the Lord said to Moses, “Arrest all the leaders of the people, and hang them up before the Lord in the sun, that the fierce anger of the Lord may be turned away from Israel.” So Moses said to the judges of Israelites, “Each of you must slay those of his men who were joined to Baal-Peor." (Numbers 25:1-5)

Later, when the Israelites conquered the Moabites in retaliation for what had happened, Moses chastised the commanders of the army for not killing the women and children, reminding them of how Balaam had influenced the Moabites to commit evil against them:

“Have you allowed all the women to live? Look, these people, through the counsel of Balaam, caused the Israelites to act treacherously against the Lord in the matter of Peor — and [as a result] there was a plague among the community of the Lord. Now, therefore, kill every boy, and kill every woman who has had intercourse with a man. But all the young women who have not had intercourse with a man will be yours.” (Numbers 31:15-18)

In the Book of Revelation (which was dictated to John by the Lord), this was the same text the Lord Jesus Himself used in warning churches against Simon's heresy, specifically those congregations who were allowing followers and practitioners of his teachings to preside among them:

To the angel of the church in Pergamum write the following: “This is the solemn pronouncement of the One who has the sharp double-edged sword... I have a few things against you: You have some people there who follow the teaching of Balaam, who instructed Balak to put a stumbling block before the people of Israel so they would eat food sacrificed to idols and commit sexual immorality. In the same way, there are also some among you who follow the teaching of the Nicolaitans. (Revelation 2:12-15)

The Nicolatians were followers of Simon's teachings, as was Jezebel in the church at Thyatira (Revelation 2:18-29). The Book of Revelation was written about four years prior to Jude writing his letter (for more on this, see First Thessalonians, Study #10), which means these groups were among the ones Jude was very specifically warning about in his letter.

Balaam's Teachings Were Inspired By Demons, Not God

As the Israelites made their way through the wilderness, Balak the King of Moab took them to be a threat, and sent for Balaam, a famous soothsayer and diviner who lived in Mesopotamia, to come and place a curse upon them. An ancient inscription dating to the 8th century B.C.E. refers to Balaam as "the seer of the gods," and it names several pagan gods and goddesses as those he appealed to in the practice of sorcery (see Anchor Bible Dictionary, V.1, P.571). Because he was a soothsayer, Balak apparently believed he could be paid to place curses upon the Israelites through the powers of magic.
There was only one problem: Balaam had at some point in his development as a soothsayer and prophet come into contact with the true and Living God, and began receiving prophetic insights from Him. According to Josephus, Jehovah was actually "the God who had raised him to great reputation on account of the truth of his predictions." (Josephus, Antiquities, Book 4, Chapter 6, #2).
According to Philo, Balaam predicted many natural disasters accurately, just as Joseph predicted seven years of abundance in Egypt, followed by seven years of famine:

… [Balaam was] at that time a man very celebrated for his skill in divination, dwelling in Mesopotamia, who was initiated in every branch of the soothsayer's art. And he was celebrated and renowned above all men for his experience as a diviner and prophet… on one occasion he predicted heavy rain to one nation at the height of summer; to another he had foretold a drought and burning heat in the middle of winter. Others he had forewarned of a dearth which should follow a season of abundance; and, on the other hand, plenty after famine… the inundations of rivers; or, on the contrary, their diminishing greatly and becoming dried up; and the departure of pestilent diseases, and ten thousand other things. (Philo, On The Life Of Moses, XLVIII, 264).

The problem for King Balak, then, was that unbeknownst to him the prophet he would be paying to curse the Israelites was regularly going to their God for divine help. Moreover, Balaam himself knew he might not be of much help to Balak, for he was already aware that Jehovah was not like other gods. While indeed an accurate Revealer of future events, unlike the demon gods of Mesopotamia, Jehovah was not One who could be persuaded through sorcery to carry out curses against nations.

So Balaam informed the ambassadors sent by Balak that matters were not under his control, and that Jehovah had forbidden him to go (Numbers 22:12-13). The messengers, however, didn't believe him, still regarding him as a soothsayer and assuming that the reward they had offered just wasn't big enough. So they returned later and besought him again, this time offering even greater reward:

[But] Balaam replied to the servants of Balak, “Though Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not do anything, either small or great, contrary to the command of the Lord my God. Now please, you also stay here tonight, and I will find out what else the Lord will speak to me.” God came to Balaam at night and said to him, “If the men have come to call you, rise up and go with them; but only the word which I speak to you shall you do.”

Having already been told by God that the Israelites were blessed, Balaam was supposed to take this to mean, "Very well. If they insist on you going with them, go right ahead, but you will bless them and not curse them." Had he relayed this to the ambassadors, it would have deterred them from continuing to ask. But unfortunately, spiritually blinded by greed, Balaam wickedly interpreted this as God consenting to their request to curse the Israelites. Saddling his donkey and going with them, Balaam now greatly angered God. But rather than call him back, the Lord now intended to teach both Balaam and Balak a lesson for their evil intentions, placing an angel in Balaam's path as a warning that his life was in danger unless he said only what God told him to say.
The rest of the story is recorded in Numbers: Three times they tried to curse Israel, and three times Balaam pronounced blessings upon them instead of curses, to his own grief as well as Balak's (Numbers 23:1-24:25). Eventually Balaam realized the Israelites were indeed still under the favor of God, and so did not even attempt to seek omens against them through divination (Numbers 24:1). But after departing in failure, Balaam soon thereafter sent word back to King Balak that the Israelites could be destroyed if they could be seduced into sinning against their own God. Balak followed through on this advice, and it eventually led to the deaths of over 24,000 Israelites.
The "teachings of Balaam," as referred to by the Lord Jesus Christ in the Book of Revelations, are the following words, sent by Balaam to Balak after his departure, here recorded by the Jewish philosopher Philo:

"O king! The women of your country surpass all other women in beauty, and there are no means by which a man is more easily subdued than by the beauty of a woman. Therefore, if you enjoin the most beautiful of them to grant their [sexual] favors to them and to prostitute themselves to them, they will allure and overcome the youth among your enemies. But you must warn them not to surrender their beauty to those who desire them too easily or quickly, for resistance and coyness will stimulate the passions and excite them more, and kindle in them a more impetuous desire. And thus, being completely subdued by their lusts, they will venture to do and suffer anything.
Then let any damsel who is thus prepared for the hunt resist, and say wantonly to a lover who has thus been influenced, 'It is not fitting for you to enjoy my company until you have first abandoned your native habits and have changed, and learned to practice the same practices that I do. And I must have a conspicuous proof of your real change, which I can only have by your consenting to join me in the same sacrifices and libations which I make, and which we may then offer together to the same images and statues, and other erections in honor of my gods.' And the lover, being as it were taken in the snare of her manifold and various snares, not being able to resist her beauty and seductive conversation, will become completely subdued in his reason, and like a miserable man will obey all the commands she lays upon him, and will be enrolled as the slave of passion."
This, then, is the advice which Balaam gave to Balak. (Philo, On The Life Of Moses, I, LIV, 296-300)

Since Jehovah did not allow him to earn the reward money, it would appear Balaam turned back to the demons he once served, who gave him this incredibly wicked advice. Indeed, these teachings have served the Devil's children well to this very day. These were essentially the same teachings Simon the magician used to seduce weak Christians into becoming enemies of God during New Testament times. And as seen in the previous study, they are once again increasingly being presented as the true teachings of "Christianity," in Satan's hopes of seducing future generations of unsuspecting, uninformed believers during the end-times into sexual sin, and disowning the true God of the Bible.

The Return Of Gnostic Enmity For The Living God

Behind the desire to repudiate His lordship is a deep-seated enmity for the True God, and a love for Lucifer instead. Such sentiments are still being expressed today by Gnostic authors, one of the more influential of these being Lynn Picknett. Following the release of the motion picture The Da Vinci Code, Picknett published a major Gnostic work praising Lucifer as "the god of progress and intellectual enquiry… [for] it was through Lucifer's spirit that humanity first climbed down from the tree and has represented the flow of progress ever since." (Secret History Of Lucifer: And the meaning of the true Da Vinci code, P.252). Not surprisingly, she depicted the God of the Old Testament as a sadistic and evil being who only delighted in seeing men suffer. In a summary of the book provided at her official web site, Picknett declared "Underlying the Lucifer myth is the implicit psychopathy of Yahweh, a god so jealous and incapable of self control, so lacking in maturity that he could accept no challenge, and wreaked havoc on those who stood up to him. Is Lucifer the evil one - or Yahweh?"
Defending the early Gnostics for hating and vilifying the Creator, Picknett reiterated how incredibly hateful God must have been to have treated Adam and Eve with such cruelty in the garden:

Even the less extreme Gnostics assumed that the Creator himself was formerly a benign spirit who had fallen… Indeed, they often identified this blind, ignorant and evil entity with the Devil… He seems little better, and because of his status and omnipotence even worse, than the Inquisitorial torturers who revived their victims so they could suffer further agonies, even (as we shall see) pulling them half-consumed from the flaming pyre to writhe for an hour or two before returning them to the fire. God has ensured that Adam and Eve had enough "spirit and strength" with which to suffer, to appease his own pathological anger... Of course, by espousing the idea that Yahweh was Satan, [the Gnostics] were doomed to a not very peaceful future among the flock of the emergent established Church, the Roman Catholics.  (Secret History Of Lucifer: And the meaning of the true Da Vinci code, P.27-28)

Picknett then went on to sympathetically quote Freemason Albert Pike, a Luciferian of the highest order who once equated Yahweh with the Devil, the true god of evil:

If Lucifer were not God, would Adonay, whose deeds prove his cruelty, perfidy and hatred of man, barbarism and repulsion for science, would Adonay and his priests calumniate him? Yes, Lucifer is God, and unfortunately Adanay is also god. For the eternal law is that there is no light without shade, no beauty without ugliness… the true and pure philosophical religion is the belief in Lucifer, the equal of Adanay; but Lucifer, God of Light and God of Good, is struggling for humanity against Adonay, the God of Darkness and Evil. (Secret History Of Lucifer: And the meaning of the true Da Vinci code, P.238)

Though it may seem amazing to us now, such character assassinations against the Living God are destined to increase as we progress farther into the end-times. Due to growing Satanic influence upon public opinion, conditions will eventually get so bad that the prophecy quoted by Jude from the Book of Enoch will reach even greater fulfillment than it did during New Testament times:

And Enoch also, the seventh-generation descendant from Adam, prophesied unto these men, saying, "Behold, the Lord came with ten thousands of his holy angels to execute judgment against all, and to reprove all the ungodly concerning all their ungodly works which they committed in ungodliness, and concerning all the hard words ungodly sinners spoke against Him." (Jude 1:14-15)

Thus, regardless of the warnings Jude gave in this letter, some are once again beginning to make the same mistakes the Israelites did in allowing themselves to be seduced into making God their enemy, to their own destruction. And they will awake from their fictitious dreams to realize they have damned themselves to eternal torment forever.
